Donut Ingredients:
- 1 Cup Milk of Choice
- 1 Tsp Lemon Juice
- 1.5 Cups AP Flour
- 1/2 Cup Sugar
- 1/4 Cup Unsweetened Cocoa Powder
- 3 Tsp Baking Soda
- 1/2 Tsp Salt
- 1 Cup Unsweetened Applesauce
- 1/4 Cup Vegetable/Canola Oil
- 1 Tsp Vanilla Extract
Glaze Ingredients:
- 2 Cups Powdered Sugar
- 2 Tbsp Maple Syrup (I used light)
- 3 Tbsp Milk of Choice
- 1/2 Tsp Brown Sugar
Donut Instructions:
Turn oven on to 350. Place lemon juice in 1 cup of milk. Stir and let sit for 2-3 minutes. While that is sitting, in a medium bowl combine sugar, cocoa powder, flour, baking soda and salt. Mix. Then add applesauce, oil, vanilla and lastly the milk w/ lemon juice. Whisk or blend well. Batter will now be a dough. Spoon batter into 2 donut pans, making a dozen donuts. Smooth tops of dough with spoon. Only fill each about 3/4 full to allow room to rise. Then bake for 10-12 minutes or until you can toothpick them without anything sticking to it. Then remove from oven, then from pan and place on parchment paper to sit for 5-10 minutes to cool a little. Then glaze can be added.
Glaze Instructions:
In a small-medium size bowl, whisk/mix ingredients until blended and smooth. Then after donuts cool on counter for 10-15 minutes, dip top of donuts in bowl and let sit on counter for another 10-15 minutes. If there is glaze left over after dipping, pour glaze as drizzle over all the donuts for a second coating.
Makes:
About a dozen donuts.
